Fayetteville School District: As can be expected of a University town, the local school district is one of excellence. The Fayetteville High School graduates are annually accepted into the finest universities in the nation, including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt, Vassar, Princeton and all three military academies. Annually 80% of the districts graduates go to college.
Newsweek magazine ranked Fayetteville High School as one of the top 4% of high schools in the U.S. in 2005, based on the number of Advanced Placement exams taken by seniors. It is a state leader in National Merit semi-finalists.

May, 2008 - For the fourth consecutive year, Sports Illustrated awarded Fayetteville High School "Best in State" Top Sports Program in Arkansas. FHS boasted a state title in girls golf, its third straight state title in baseball and its first-ever state title in football.

Recognized by Expansion Management magazine as one of the nation's best school districts in it's 2005 "Education Quotient" for the 9th consecutive year. Fayetteville was one of only two districts in Arkansas to receive the blue ribbon.

Received a Golden Apple Award from the State of Arkansas for being one of the Top 10 School Districts in 2004 and 2005.

The Health Education program at the High School was recognized by the Metropolitan Life Foundation as one of the top twenty best programs in the nation.

The Gifted & Talented Education Program was named the best in Arkansas in 2004. It was the fourth time the program has received the award in the last 12 years.

Fayetteville Public Schools was the first public school to be profiled on the "Champions of Industry" show on the Discovery Channel.

The FHS Band was selected to march in the 2005 Fiesta Bowl Parade, and will be the first band from NWA to march in the Tournament of Roses Parade in January, 2006.

In 2007, Sports Illustrated ranks FHS Athletic program #19 out of 38,000 high schools in the nation.

Fayetteville High School annually leads the state in the number of Advanced Placement Scholars.
The Fayetteville School District covers an area of 113 square miles with an enrollment of 8,212 with 630 plus teachers. It is accredited by the North Central Association. There are 9 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 junior high schools and 2 high schools. It is a state leader in National Merit semi-finalists. The minority rate is 16%. The district has the highest educational level of any school district in the state with 40% of residents having a BA degree or higher. There are also a number of private and religious schools in the area.
